Project NOW's Meals on Wheels program delivers nearly 300 meals a day on 22 different routes. With a dwindling number of volunteers, the Project NOW staff is asking the community for help.

In response to this increasing need, Donna from Project NOW is putting a call out to all individuals and local businesses requesting volunteers willing to drive and deliver meals to Rock Island County senior citizens. Individuals or businesses interested in volunteering may "adopt a day" to help ease the demand for volunteers. The only requirements for the volunteer position are a car, a driver's license, and auto insurance.

If you're interested in delivering a well-deserved senior a meal in return for one very appreciative smile, please contact Donna at seniorcenter@projectnow.org or via phone at 309.788.6335.

Good Things NOW Store Clerk: Looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about working directly with customers and who enjoy resale environments. Volunteers will solicit, receive and sort donations, arrange store displays, assist with community outreach, provide customer service, and assist with general store operations. Hours of service are 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM Mon-Fri. Actual volunteer hours are flexible.

Hand In Hand is looking for day time volunteers to assist with the childcare program for special needs children ages 2 to 4 years. A typical day in the classroom would consist of reading, helping to wash hands, supervising play, and learning the color of the day. To better serve the children, Hand In Hand prefers volunteers that can accommodate a relatively consistent schedule, generally during the morning and mid-day (for example, most Wednesdays at from 9 AM to noon). Anyone interested can contact Childcare Director, Amy Steil at 332-8010.
