Standing Together to Strengthen Our Community and Support Working Families

For decades, organized labor has long been a driving force for fairness, dignity, and opportunity in the Quad Cities. United Way proudly stands alongside the AFL-CIO, the Quad City Federation of Labor, and our union partners to help strengthen the systems that support working families. With labor leaders at the table—including three board members from the labor community—we collaborate to create local solutions that reflect the values of solidarity and shared prosperity.

Why union engagement matters

Organized labor has long played a vital role in lifting up workers, families, and entire communities. By partnering with United Way, they continue to strengthen that legacy through tailored opportunities to give back, advocate, and lead change locally.

United Way has had a longstanding partnership with AFL-CIO to tackle critical issues in the Quad Cities. In fact, four members on the United Way Board of Directors represent organized labor in the Quad Cities.

Our unique collaboration ensures the Quad Cities has the resources to break barriers, creating opportunities for a better life for all.

Much like organized labor, United Way focuses on education, financial stability and health because these are the building blocks for a good quality of life.
